TUITION, HOUSING AND BOARD INCREASE FOR THE 2023-2024 ACADEMIC YEAR
Shaw University has announced the tuition and fees rate for the 2023-2024 academic year. Discover all the information you need to know in the announcement letter and in the FAQ below.

Question Answer
Has Shaw increased its Comprehensive Fee Schedule for FY 2023-2024? Yes. Shaw has raised its tuition, mandatory fees, housing, and board charges by 5% for the 2023-2024 academic year compared to the previous year to $24,522 compared to its current amount of $23,354.
Why Did Shaw Increase Its Charges? Rising inflation and increased operational costs necessitated an increase. The University and the country faces pressure from economic inflation levels not experienced in decades. Inflation has risen 6.6% year-over-year. As the cost of utilities, supplies, contract labor, travel and more continue to escalate, the University’s operating budget must increase proportionally. In addition, the current labor market for retaining and recruiting faculty and staff is extremely competitive. Therefore, wage inflation is also impacting the University’s operating budget.
How Does this Year’s Increase Compare to Other Years? This is the first increase in 10 years. The University last increased fees in Academic Year 2013-2014.
How Does Our Student Charges Compare To Our Peer Institutions? Shaw’s Peer Institutions have made modest increases over the last 10 years with the average charges totaling $26,700 compared to our 2022-2023 of $24,522. The Institution understands the economic environment for our students and strives to remain affordable.
