Briona May, Miss Shaw University
Bethany May is a native of Virginia and the daughter of retired navy chief paralegal, Veda May. She is a senior, majoring in social work, and is gearing up to be the face of change as she aspires to be Attorney General of the United States of America. Briona is a member of the Shaw University women's track, cross-country and bowling teams where she has maintained a stellar GPA. She was one of 13 student- athletes from Shaw University invited to join Chi Alpha Sigma Athletic Honor Society. Briona heads the Student Athletic Advisory Committee where she is reviving the voice and vision of student athletes by developing strategies to enhance community, culture and conscientiousness. On her list of accolades Miss May is the NC Common cause fellow and a member of the Shaw University Honors College. She also served as Miss Black and Gold for the Beta Rho chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. This queen’s advocacy is shown through her persistency.
Christopher Artis, Mister Shaw University
Christopher (Chris) Artis is the son of Flechia Artis and Ronnie Artis, and has two older brothers -- Justin and Derrick. Chris is an exercise science major and hails from Mount Olive, North Carolina. His focus is healthier living, student retention and community service. He has served in many service-learning avenues. Chris has volunteered at the Salvation Army, parks and recreation youth coaching, charity food drives and the Boys and Girls Club. He is a part of many great organizations such as Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated, The National Society of Leadership and Success and the NAACP. Chris has served as Shaw University NPHC president. He is president of the Health and Human Science Club. After graduation, he is determined to be a certified personal trainer. Chris plans to attend chiropractic school after graduation in hopes of becoming a great chiropractor.

Shaw University Royal Court
The Shaw University Royal Court consists of all the kings and queens representing the University. They represent the ideals of the young men and women who attend this illustrious institution. During their reign of service, Mister and Miss Shaw University and their court collectively participate in several philanthropic and educational endeavors. They also produce on-campus programs that benefit the Shaw University community.
